Process Improvement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Improvement Specialist to join our team at a major mine site in Queensland, working across both the processing plant and export facility.

This is a 12-month contract with flexibility of roster arrangements depending on candidate preference. We offer a world-class mining operation and export facility in Far North Queensland, where your technical expertise will directly influence performance, cost savings, and operational success.

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement efficient mineral extraction and processing systems.
  • Analyse current processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions to increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Apply modelling, simulation, and test work to refine and validate process changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Design & Optimisation: Develop efficient mineral extraction and processing systems.
  • Operational Support: Monitor daily plant performance and troubleshoot processing issues. Collaborate with metallurgists, geologists, and mining engineers to maximise recovery.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all processes meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Carry out risk assessments and implement proactive mitigation measures.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect and interpret production and performance data to guide decisions. Provide regular technical reports and recommendations to management.
  • Project Management: Lead or support process improvement projects from design to delivery. Work collaboratively with cross-discipline teams to achieve milestones.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of mineral processing and metallurgical principles.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, process modelling, and simulation tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years' experience in mineral processing or plant operations (preferred).
