Quantum Black Hole Researcher Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified Research Scientist to join a cutting-edge project focused on the self-consistent analysis of black hole horizons and their observational signatures. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic research environment at the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Professors and a team of HDR students. The research will explore quantum aspects of physical black holes, collapse models, and properties of ultra-compact objects such as quasi-normal modes.

You will lead the development of modelling codes and have primary responsibility for at least one project within the broader research program. Additionally, you will contribute to the theoretical components of the project, including analysis of results, manuscript preparation for publication, and potentially assisting in supervising graduate students.

Key Requirements:

  • A PhD in Physics or related field
  • Working knowledge of general relativity and numerical relativity
  • A strong record of computer programming
  • Experience in numerical simulation of quantum field-detector interaction
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of an effective team
