Environmental Sustainability Specialist

As a key member of our public health team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective public and environmental health service. This dynamic position involves managing and investigating complaints on health-related issues, including food-borne illness outbreaks, and undertaking regulatory action as required by legislation.
You will be responsible for conducting scheduled inspections of licensed premises and providing support, guidance, and coaching to colleagues. A critical aspect of this role is assessing development applications relevant to environmental health requirements, working closely with the community and other stakeholders to raise awareness of community safety matters.
About this role- Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
- Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
- Extensive technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health and Environmental Legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports on investigations and outcomes of environmental, public and community health issues.
- Excellent customer service, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and conflict resolution.
- Experience in supervision, training, mentoring and coaching staff.
