Social Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner – Youth
Job Summary:The Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Practitioner is responsible for providing high-quality, culturally safe and trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the Darwin region.
About the Role:- Provide client-centred support for youth presenting with a range of issues, including intergenerational trauma, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, anger management, grief and loss, sleep disturbance, domestic violence, sexual problems, relationship issues, and substance misuse.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for youth and their families.
- Deliver high-quality SEWB services, including individual and group sessions, workshops, and community engagement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, schools, and service providers to promote SEWB services and support partnerships.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that support the delivery of SEWB services.
- Collaborate with other health professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in SEWB practice.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to confidentiality and data protection protocols.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or related allied health disciplines.
- Current membership/registration with APHRA, Australian Association of Social Workers, or Australian Counselling Association.
- Minimum two years' experience working in a related field.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and an understanding of social, health, and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Extensive experience in mental health, social, and emotional wellbeing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation methods appropriate to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Ability to effectively interact with clients, carers, and other professionals from diverse cultures.
- Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Full-time, fixed-term position until June 2026.
- Based in Darwin, with occasional travel to remote areas.
