Production Operations Director

As Production Operations Director, you will oversee the production process, ensuring all activities are coordinated and operate effectively. You will be responsible for managing people and resources to deliver high-quality goods and services safely, cost-effectively, and on time. Your focus will be on leadership, performance, and flexibility within the team to ensure standards, skills, and work commitments are delivered.

  • Direct and communicate with teams to ensure they are informed and supported.
  • Drive a positive working environment where everyone is seen as one team.
  • Supervise and motivate workers, reviewing their performance and identifying training needs.
  • Plan and develop weekly departmental meetings.

You will also manage resources to ensure production plans are met, maintain set minimum stock holdings, and work with maintenance and other departments to minimize downtime. Additionally, you will create and maintain a professional team that provides solutions supporting both customer and business requirements.

Key responsibilities include managing resources to ensure throughputs are consistent and meeting targets, working to ensure teams are multi-skilled with job rotation programs in place, and maximizing flexibility while aligning shift patterns to business needs. You will also set standards and monitor productivity rates and product standards, implementing quality control programs and monitoring production processes to adjust schedules as needed.

This role requires experience in plant management or operations, preferably in a fast-paced multi-line factory environment. A strong understanding of manufacturing-related activities, such as production cost control, scheduling, safety, and quality, is essential. Lean manufacturing, process flow, and continuous improvement tools and methodology should also be familiar to you. Strong project management skills, IT proficiency, and excellent communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
