About the Role

Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Adviser to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in supporting our Senior Adviser to build and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop strategic approaches for engaging with government and political stakeholders to advance AFCA's interests and influence policy decisions.
  2. Prepare high-quality briefings and materials for senior leadership and parliamentary appearances to effectively communicate AFCA's position and expertise.
  3. Monitor the political landscape to identify opportunities and risks for AFCA, providing timely and insightful analysis to inform our advocacy efforts.
  4. Manage issues referred by members of parliament, including constituent concerns, and develop effective solutions to address these issues.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent external stakeholder engagement and effective communication of AFCA's mission and goals.

Requirements

  1. Tertiary qualifications in public policy, political science, or a related field.
  2. Extensive experience in government relations and stakeholder engagement, with a proven track record of success in influencing policy decisions.
  3. Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and development, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively.
  4. Sound experience in preparing high-quality briefings and reports, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering results.
  5. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
