About the Role:

The Lead, Government Relations has a close working relationship with the Manager, Policy & Government Relations and the Policy & Government Relations team. The successful candidate will be expected to develop strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders, including ministerial advisers, staff in government departments and partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promoting the work of the State Government of Victoria, Australia, across the community and raising awareness about its role as a world-leading health promotion agency with government and parliamentary stakeholders
  • Developing and delivering an overarching government relations strategy aligned with the State Government of Victoria, Australia's strategy
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with government and members of parliament
About You:

We're looking for someone who will be a confident and capable relationship builder to advocate internally and externally for the State Government of Victoria, Australia's strategy, purpose and aspirations. They must be able to provide exemplary liaison; demonstrate strong communication skills; and represent the State Government of Victoria, Australia in a professional manner.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy or a related field
  • Previous experience working in government as a policy adviser or ministerial or electorate staffer at either state or federal levels
  • Previous experience working in government relations or advocacy with a statutory authority or not-for-profit
