About the Role

The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor, Government Relations to join our team. As a key member of our Government Relations team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective government relations strategies to support the delivery of the Metro Tunnel Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of government relations strategies to support the delivery of the Metro Tunnel Project.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external government stakeholders to engage with state government MPs affected by and with an interest in the project.
  • Identify and implement innovative and creative initiatives to assist state government MPs to raise community awareness about key elements of the Metro Tunnel Project.
  • Develop and maintain communications material about the project that is clear, timely and accessible to state government MPs.
  • Monitor public comments and research information relevant to the project and provide accurate and up-to-date reporting on government relations issues and the progress of issues resolution.
  • Support state government MPs and their staff in responding to public enquiries in a timely and appropriate manner, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitor, audit and maintain any databases to ensure that all interactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Represent the State Government of Victoria, Australia in briefings and on external stakeholder reference groups as required.
  • Undertake a broad range of administrative support tasks, including preparing documents and reports, taking and preparing meeting minutes, arranging meetings and other general tasks, as required.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in communications, stakeholder relations and government relations. A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Policy, Community Engagement or relevant field is desirable.
