What does the job look like?

As the National Safety & Compliance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the safety and compliance strategy for a major online retail operation. This role is responsible for leading initiatives to enhance safety and compliance performance, delivering key projects, and providing expert guidance to operational stakeholders to ensure incidents are managed in accordance with legislative requirements.

This role focuses on coaching, influencing, and mentoring National and Regional Managers to embed a culture of effective safety leadership. A strong understanding of behavioural safety techniques and the impact of leadership on frontline safety behaviours is essential. Additionally, the role requires comprehensive knowledge of statutory and industry safety requirements to drive best practices across the operation. Key areas:

- Partner with our customers senior leaders to develop and execute the Safety, Health & Compliance (SH&C) strategy.
- Mentor senior leaders to enhance SH&C ownership, knowledge, and engagement.
- Analyse business-wide safety data to identify risks and implement targeted improvement programs.
- Manage safety and road compliance systems, ensuring adherence to legislative and self-insurance requirements.
- Lead serious incident investigations, ensuring risk-based approaches and implementation of preventative controls.
- Conduct audits, monitor WHS standards, and provide performance insights.
- Engage with customers, report on safety initiatives, and promote safety recognition programs.

Are you the one?

You are a proactive and experienced safety leader with a strong background in safety and compliance within transport, logistics, or supply chain industries. Your ability to influence and mentor senior leaders sets you apart, as does your expertise in implementing strategic safety initiatives across multiple sites. You thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments and possess a deep understanding of behavioral safety techniques, compliance regulations, and risk management. You can demonstrate:

- Proven experience as a WHS Manager in the transport, logistics, or heavy vehicle industry
- Strong knowledge of NHVR, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), Mass Management, Load Restraint and Fatigue Management regulations
- Degree or Diploma qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is essential
- Extensive understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) and associated regulations
- Expertise in auditing safety management systems
- Strong ability to influence and engage stakeholders to drive safety results
- Solid experience in conducting thorough incident investigations
- Practical knowledge and application of risk assessment practices
