We are looking for an experienced and passionate Café Chef to join our growing team on a full-time basis (38 hours per week). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily kitchen operations, upholding exceptional food quality and presentation standards, and contributing to the creation and improvement of seasonal menus.

Task & Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook high-quality café-style meals including breakfast, lunch, and speciality items, ensuring consistency in flavour, presentation, and portion size.
- Design and implement seasonal menus and daily specials featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients that reflect modern café trends and customer preferences.
- Supervise and coordinate all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking schedules, ordering, stock rotation, and supplier management.
- Monitor food costs, portion control, and wastage to achieve budgetary and cost-efficiency targets.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment in line with HACCP and Safe Food Australia standards.
- Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff to uphold kitchen standards, consistency, and team efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with management to maintain and enhance Elly Café’s reputation for quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including menu development, kitchen workflow optimisation, and customer feedback integration.
Qualification & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a café or casual dining environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate kitchen operations efficiently, ensuring smooth day-to-day service.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
- Proven ability to maintain food quality, hygiene, and safety standards consistent with HACCP and Safe Food Australia guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional and customer-focused hospitality team.
