Vic Freight is seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations of our fleet in Laverton North. The role will involve managing contract drivers, ensuring compliance with safety and NHVR regulations, and driving operational efficiency to maintain our reputation for reliability and excellence in transport services.

Task & responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day fleet operations to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery

- Lead, support, and mentor drivers while ensuring compliance with safety, fatigue management, and NHVR regulations

- Develop and oversee driver schedules, rosters, and route planning to maximize efficiency

- Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and productivity, identifying areas for improvement

- Ensure all vehicles are regularly serviced, maintained, and meet roadworthy standards

- Resolve operational issues, including driver performance, client queries, and payment/invoice discrepancies

- Conduct quarterly driver performance reviews and implement improvement or corrective actions where required

- Implement fair and consistent performance management processes when necessary

- Drive cost control measures and continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations

- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, drivers, and internal stakeholders

- Prepare and present operational reports, performance metrics, and compliance updates to management

Qualification & experience

- Minimum Diploma in Business Management (or related field)

- Proven experience in fleet management, transport, or logistics

- Strong knowledge of NHVR regulations and safety compliance

- Background in the trucking/transport industry essential

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet management systems
