Workshop Mechanic

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and hands-on rebuilding of heavy vehicle power steering systems. The role includes both workshop-based and on-vehicle repairs, ensuring equipment is serviced to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on heavy vehicle power steering equipment.
- Rebuild power steering components with precision and attention to detail.
- Undertake on-vehicle repairs and maintenance where required.
- Propose alternative technical solutions to customers and communicate benefits.
- Follow all established quality and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of service work and incident reporting.
- Identify and address workplace hazards promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with peers and support team objectives.
- Other responsibilities as directed by the Branch Manager.

Skills, Education & Experience

- Trade qualification as a mechanic, with strong truck/heavy vehicle experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic.
- Prior exposure to heavy vehicle power steering systems and components (highly desirable).
- Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
- Safety-conscious, detail-focused, and dependable.
