Who we are looking for
The Senior Peer Support Worker works part of RASA’s Gambling Help Service to provide one-to-one peer support to individuals affected by their own or someone else’s gambling by sharing their own lived experience in ways that assist the person to determine their own next steps, engage or maintain engagement with help services, and inspire hope of recovery.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Certificate IV (AQF level 4) in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to work towards
- Lived experience of and recovery from gambling harm, mental health or alcohol and other drug use.
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Tertiary qualifications (AQF level 7) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or other relevant field
- Experience as a speaker in RASA’s Consumer Voice Program/LEIGH Program
- Lived experience in gambling harm
What you will be doing
- Provide high quality and appropriate peer mentoring and supervision to other GHS Peer support workers.
- Manage a caseload of clients providing evidenced based one-to-one peer support to individuals affected by their own or someone else’s gambling.
- In conjunction with the Practice Manager GHS, develop and review practice guidelines for Peer Support work.
- Support the development and engagement of new initiatives including outreach work in the community (e.g. prisons).
- Operate as a collaborative member of the Gambling Help Service team.
- Ensure that peer support and personal contributions are delivered in line with RASA’s expectations, and model ethical behaviour consistent with RASA’s values, ethics and shared behaviours.
