We believe in the strength of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive workforce where backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people help us innovate and create strong connections with our customers.
We’re on the hunt for a Bid Manager to take charge of major bids—opportunities worth millions, often spanning multiple services and partners. In this role, you’ll lead virtual teams of up to 30 people across divisions, vendors, and geographies to deliver proposals that win. You’ll bring strategy, creativity, and coordination together to deliver compelling, compliant bids that showcase why Optus is the partner of choice
The day-to-day:
- Own the full bid lifecycle, from opportunity qualification through to submission
- Run bid kick-off meetings, set schedules, allocate resources, and manage progress
- Bring together diverse teams—Sales, Solutions, Finance, Legal, Risk, and external vendors—to deliver cohesive proposals
- Shape the commercial strategy with cost models, pricing, SLAs, and value propositions
- Draft, edit, and polish bid documentation so it’s clear, compelling, and compliant
- Manage governance and approvals, ensuring risks are identified and addressed
- Support negotiations by preparing risk assessments, contract schedules, and commercial options
- Coach and mentor junior contributors to uplift overall bid capability
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience in solution sales or running large, sophisticated service bids in IT&T or similar industries
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple bids at once
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you can distil complexity into clarity
- Familiarity with proposal management systems and tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint crucial; MS Project desirable)
- Commercial competence and creativity to design bids that balance customer needs and Optus’ goals
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, bringing clarity and confidence to complex challenges
- A reputation for building strong relationships and influencing at all levels, from technical teams to CFO/COO level
What’s in it for you?
- 3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit
- Inclusive carer neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks
- Competitive leave including 2 'Connected Leave' days
- All Optus employees have access to resources, webinars and support via the ‘Parents at Work portal’
- Own your own growth by accessing an extensive online and facilitator led learning catalogue.
- Connect at work through our employee-led volunteer groups: Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+), United Veterans, Yarn Network, Wellbeing Network and Young Professionals.
- Vibrant campus life, variety of facilities including restaurants, cafes, gymnasium, GP, and post office
- Free Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes); morning and afternoon
