About the role
As our Employee Engagement and CommunicationsSpecialist, you’ll be the voice behind how we engageand communicate with our people. You’ll design and delivercampaigns, events, and experiences that strengthen engagement,build trust, and bring our employee experience to life.You’ll also work closely with senior leaders and the Peopleand Culture team to provide strategic advice on communication andengagement that reflects Council’s purpose, priorities, andidentity.
It’s a role for someone who is equal parts strategist,storyteller, and connector. Someone who can see both the detail andthe bigger picture of how people experience work.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and delivery of internal communication andengagement strategies that enhance the employee experience andstrengthen Council’s employer identity and culture
- Develop multi-channel communication campaigns and programsacross key employee lifecycle moments (such as onboarding,development, and recognition)
- Partner with senior leaders and the People and Culture teamto deliver clear, consistent messaging that buildsunderstanding, trust, and participation
- Create high-quality written, visual, and digital contentthat helps employees understand Council’s direction,priorities, and the difference their work makes
- Plan and deliver internal events and initiatives thatcelebrate our people and reinforce Council’s culture andcommitment to employee engagement and experience
- Use feedback, data, and analytics to measure communicationand engagement outcomes and drive continuous improvement
About you
You understand that great communication goes beyond information;it creates connection and helps people feel included andinspired.
You’re strategic, creative, and confident working withstakeholders at all levels. You know how to design communicationthat builds trust, supports change, and helps people feel part ofsomething bigger.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Public Relations or Communications
- Substantial experience in internal communication, employeeengagement, or organisational change
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills acrossdifferent audiences and channels
- Experience developing communication campaigns, engagementprograms, or employee events
- A collaborative approach and strong relationship-buildingskills with stakeholders at all levels

- This is a permanent full-time position, located in theToowoomba CBD (with free parking provided)
- The salary range for this position is $102,286.02 to$109,044.83 gross per annum plus 17.5% annual leave loading andup to 12.65% superannuation
