About the role

With production mining now underway at our new underground operation, we're building a technical team to lead the optimisation, monitoring, and ongoing development of our paste fill system.

You'll work alongside Engineers, Paste Plant Operators and operational leaders who have helped bring this facility online, contributing to one of Australia's most exciting lithium operations. This position will be offered as a permanent opportunity based at our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

Reporting to our Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for;

- Backfill System Design: Develop and optimise mine backfill systems, integrating geological, geotechnical, and environmental considerations.
- Material Selection and Testing: Select appropriate backfill materials and conduct tests to meet engineering specifications and compatibility with underground methods.
- Technical Oversight: Oversee the installation and operation of backfill systems, monitor performance, and implement improvements.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation measures, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with mine operations, geotechnical, and engineering teams to align backfilling strategies and address operational challenges.

About you

We're open to a range of backgrounds and experience levels, whether you've worked in paste plant operations, backfill system design, or underground mining with exposure to CRF or paste fill systems.

- Current paste plant or backfill experience or a passion to specialise in paste and backfill systems.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field is desired, however, strong operational experience will be considered.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing backfill systems in underground mining operations highly desired.
- In-depth knowledge of mine backfill engineering principles and best practices.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian mining practices, safety, and environmental standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical and D&A screen
