A leading global financial services provider is seeking an Operations Analyst to join their Sydney-based team, supporting the quality assurance and operational excellence of their Client Facing division. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a world‑class environment, working alongside industry experts and gaining exposure to a diverse range of asset classes including equities, options, and fixed income securities.
Our day‑to‑day responsibilities will involve processing complex trade clearing activities across multiple markets while maintaining rigorous standards of quality assurance. You will be entrusted with managing exception handling procedures, resolving operational discrepancies at their source, and responding promptly to client or front office requests related to post‑trade activities. In addition to overseeing treasury functions such as exchange deposits and withdrawals, you will liaise regularly with exchanges and banks on collateral‑related matters. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement, and an unwavering commitment to upholding regulatory compliance. By contributing your expertise to process improvement initiatives and fostering collaborative relationships across teams, you will help drive operational excellence within one of the world’s most respected financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently process trade clearing activities for all relevant markets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in every transaction to support seamless market operations.
- Handle give ups, take ups, EFP (Exchange for Physical), NLT (Non‑Linear Trades) bookings with meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing that all post‑trade actions are completed within required deadlines.
- Manage exception handling by identifying discrepancies in the post‑trade clearing process, reporting issues promptly, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve them at the root‑cause level.
- Respond swiftly to post‑trade requests from clients or front office teams such as position transfers, closeouts, trade reallocations, and system settlements of trades.
- Investigate any clearing breaks raised during daily operations, conducting thorough analysis to ensure effective resolution and prevent recurrence.
- Process exchange deposit and withdrawal requests efficiently while maintaining clear communication with exchanges and banking partners regarding collateral matters.
- Ensure strict compliance with both external regulatory requirements and internal policies, particularly those related to the prevention of financial crime and fraud.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and diligence throughout all operational tasks while consistently meeting tight deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams as well as external stakeholders to facilitate smooth operational workflows across various business segments.
- Contribute proactively to process improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and supporting the implementation of best practices.
Qualifications
- At least one year of hands‑on experience in derivatives operations within a reputable financial services environment is essential for success in this position.
- A comprehensive understanding of exchange‑traded derivatives markets—including systems architecture and end‑to‑end process workflows—will enable you to navigate complex transactions confidently.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key risk areas associated with derivatives operations along with familiarity with relevant control frameworks is highly valued.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with high standards of accuracy ensures that all operational tasks are executed flawlessly under pressure.
- A mindset focused on process excellence paired with initiative allows you to identify inefficiencies proactively and contribute meaningfully to continuous improvement efforts.
- Outstanding communication skills—both written and verbal—are necessary for effective interaction with internal colleagues as well as external stakeholders such as clients or counterparties.
- A good Bachelor’s degree or exceptionally strong results in an AQF Level 6 qualification provide a solid academic foundation for this role.
- Familiarity with wholesale financial markets—including products offered and clearing house mechanisms—will set you apart from other candidates.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines consistently while balancing multiple priorities demonstrates your dependability in high‑stakes environments.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.
