Council of the City of Sydney, Australia OCTAGON Full time

Core strengths of a Senior Analyst are strong and seasoned analytical skills, creativity in problem-solving across client and business issues, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as lead it. They should also have a strong demonstrable interest and knowledge in the world of sports and entertainment properties, specifically in the landscape in which their key clients operate.

The Senior Analyst is a key client consultant and typically leads larger scale projects and teams of 1-3. Requiring infrequent support on day-to-day work delivery, the Senior Analyst is able to drive the delivery of most pieces of work from end-to-end, to the satisfaction of clients and the business. At the same time, they do lean on the support of Senior management or Leadership teams for critical, overall planning and delivery of major SOW milestones and reports. They are a day-to-day client interface and representative of Futures’ strategic value proposition in the Australian market. As such they have developed strong analytical and technical expertise that stands out above their colleagues but also shows a strong grounding in higher level management of projects.

They will be responsible for bringing in and establishing strong project management skills in the broader teams that report to them, including team capacity and reporting, project set up and reconciliation, and overall financial processes from contract to invoicing – all with the support of finance teams.

With the support of senior staff, they will bring their applicable experience and be ready to grow mostly in the areas of strategic client management, the development of commercial strategy, senior client interaction and consultancy, new business, and internally, in team and line management duties.

Key Responsibilities

- Mid to Senior level of regular client interaction and delivery of work
- Ability to play strategic consultant to mid-level clients
- Personally deliver a high quality of work output, requiring topline guidance and minimal changes from management, with a high level of professionalism in client interaction and general written and verbal communications
- Thorough understanding of the landscape in which your key clients operate, with the ability to share those insights both formally and informally with clients and teams alike
- Ability to manage, analyse and interpret complex datasets with high efficiency, whilst also overlaying strategic insight commensurate with the level of a senior member of the business
- Ultimate responsibility for project management, delivery against milestones and overall quality of product and work. This may include ensuring timeline and workflow processes are in place and being adhered to by Analysts and Grad Analysts, managing direct reports to drive their own and other’s workflow, and managing client, supplier and internal stakeholders’ expectations
- Convert profit for the business by identifying opportunity, and working with Senior Management to support successful renewals with your key clients

Developing Skills

- Experience mentoring team members
- Ability to build commercially sound insights and strategies for clients, still requiring the oversight of Senior Management on major proposals and responses
- Increasing confidence and professionalism in presenting, both formally and in informal meeting settings, including the overlay and clever integration of commercial insights
- A core area of technical expertise. Something to which others (teams and clients) can look to you for advice on high quality delivery, creativity in approach, or efficiency.
- A leadership or supporting role in one or two internal initiatives and business operations, as determined with and by senior management, such as: recruitment, ongoing people and team management, internal process and operations, client initiatives and external marketing, etc.
- Develop a basic understanding of business plans and targets, and how these apply to new business, client management, and internal process

Core Skills and Responsibilities

- Excellent quantitative skills, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience with coding and data science software desirable e.g. SQL, VBA, R, SPSS, Python
- Able to clearly communicate ideas and have strong verbal and written skills
- Able to build strong, personable and effective working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- Delivers results through teamwork
- Proactive, involves others and communicates with others to make things happen
- Keen to develop and seek opportunities to take on more responsibility
- Open to constructive feedback to grow and develop professional skills and business outputs
- Remain calm when working under pressure and encourage the team to do so
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Management and prioritisation of personal and team deliverables across multiple projects or workstreams
- Regular reporting on status and issues to Senior Management or line manager
