Overview

SSA Group has partnered with a family-owned civil contractor with sites throughout SEQ. They are seeking a HSEQ officer to join their team. This is a multi-site role covering mainly the Gold Coast and Southern Brisbane.

You will be critical in ensuring compliance with company systems, client requirements, and statutory obligations. You will work closely with project managers, supervisors, and site crews to foster a positive safety culture and deliver continuous improvement across all aspects of HSEQ.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of HSEQ management systems across multiple projects.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Assist with incident investigations and reporting, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
- Deliver HSEQ inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to promote safety awareness and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and reporting in line with ISO and legislative standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards, implement controls, and drive a proactive safety-first culture.
- Provide support during external and internal audits.

Skills & Experience

- Minimum Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (Diploma desirable).
- Previous experience in an HSEQ role within civil construction, infrastructure, or mining.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental management practices, and quality systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong report writing, investigation, and analytical skills.
- Current driver's licence and White Card.
