Total Remuneration Package: $168,946.00. Base salary $149,059.00, plus leave loading and superannuation contribution.

School: Hume Public School, Lavington, on Wiradjuri Country along the NSW/Victorian border.

School enrolment: 183 students. 35% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander; 16% English as an Additional Language.

School offers mainstream classes Kindergarten to Year 6, preschool, and a Special Education Unit providing Multi‑Categorical, Moderate/Severe Intellectual, and Early Intervention classes within the mainstream site.

Staff foster inclusion, positive relationships, high expectations, active engagement, and community sense.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach Special Education and/or successful experience teaching support class with autism, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, expressive and receptive language delays, range of emotional and behavioural needs.

- Proven ability to engage and inspire teaching staff in the development of differentiated teaching and learning programs and assessment based on curriculum knowledge and Disability Standards.

- Knowledge and experience implementing evidence‑based wellbeing and behaviour support systems and programs; ability to lead and support staff to manage complex student behaviours and risk across the Unit.

- Proven capacity to collaboratively lead and contribute to continuous whole‑school improvement, particularly for students with additional and diverse needs.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.

3. Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.

4. Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education you must commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Appointment Type

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE 0.1–0.9) they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept.
