Job Title: Head Teacher Special Education - Hawkesbury High School
Salary: Base salary $149,059.00 plus leave loading and superannuation. Relocation support: $5,000–$8,000.

Sydney Region – Hawkesbury High School, Windsor area.
About the School
Hawkesbury High School is a comprehensive, co‑educational high school located in the Hawkesbury District of Northwest Metropolitan Sydney. The school has 470 students in Years 7–12, including 11% Aboriginal students. From 2026, a three‑classroom Support Unit will be included. The school maintains strong connections with the local community and a proactive, engaged parent body. It prioritises academic, vocational and wellbeing programs and enjoys a sustainable partnership with local primary schools.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Special Education Division, ensuring effective support for students with complex learning and support needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, families and external agencies to develop and implement individualized support, transition, behaviour and wellbeing strategies.
- Provide leadership in curriculum, assessment and inclusive teaching for all students, promoting engagement through personalised learning plans.
- Lead faculty development, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Plan and manage resources to support teaching and learning.
Qualifications & Criteria
- Teacher training and academic qualifications as required for NSW Department of Education.
- Full approval to teach for NSW Department of Education.
- Experience teaching students with complex learning and support needs.
- Proven ability to lead faculty and whole‑school differentiation of curriculum.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, wellbeing programmes knowledge.
- Capacity to foster positive relationships with students, families, and agencies.
- Leadership and management experience with teaching and non‑teaching staff.
- Proficiency in planning and resource management for inclusive education.
- Knowledge of and commitment to Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Requirements
- Eligibility: Applicants must hold a full approval to teach; if not, application process must begin concurrently.
- Relocation support: $5,000–$8,000.
- WWCC clearance number must be provided.
