Novaskill is proud to partner with Walcha Council to offer a Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeship opportunity. This role provides hands-on, on-the-job training combined with dedicated mentoring and support to help you reach your career goals and unlock your full potential.

As an apprentice, you’ll work towards completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic industry.

Role & Learnings –

- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, trailer repairs, and other vehicle components.
- Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Overhauls: Overhaul engines and other critical components to extend the life and performance of vehicles.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Parts Management: Manage inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring timely ordering and availability.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, drivers, and management to ensure seamless operations.

About You –

- A keen interest in heavy vehicles, mechanical, and auto electrical skills.
- A knack for diagnosing mechanical faults, coupled with a genuine curiosity for troubleshooting.
- A results-driven mindset, coupled with an eagerness to make a positive impact.
- Effective communication abilities to understand direction and fault descriptions.
- Dedication, strong work ethic, and a reliable nature.
- Prior exposure to a similar role or related experience that highlights your natural aptitude for the field.
- A valid NSW driver’s license. Any additional licenses would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated commitment to completing your study while balancing work.
- Time management, attention to detail, planning, and organizationalskills.
