Project Manager

Brisbane central business district, Queensland, Australia Robert Half Full time
Our client, a leading insurance provider, is embarking on a high-impact HR integration project following the merger of two businesses. We're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the integration of HR systems, processes, and teams across both organisations.

This role offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of people, process, and technology. You'll be the linchpin connecting HR, IT, and business leadership to ensure a smooth, cohesive transition that supports employees, strengthens culture, and delivers operational alignment.

If you're someone who thrives in ambiguity, brings clarity to complexity, and can align stakeholders across functions, this role offers both challenge and reward.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of the HR integration project, ensuring alignment of people, processes, and systems.
- Collaborate with senior leaders, HR teams, IT, and external vendors to define and deliver integration milestones.
- Manage timelines, dependencies, and risks across organisational change, including workforce structure, policies, payroll, performance, and talent systems.
- Coordinate the integration of HR platforms (e.g. payroll, HCM, ATS) without directly managing the technical build.
- Establish governance forums, reporting cadences, and project communication plans.
- Champion change management: support cultural alignment, communicate effectively, and drive adoption of new HR processes and tools.
- Support decision-making through analysis of current-state vs future-state processes.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies during transition.

About You

- Proven experience leading complex business or HR transformation projects, ideally in a merger or integration context
- Confident stakeholder manager, able to build trust across HR, legal, IT, and executive teams
- Strong understanding of HR operations and systems, even if not technically hands-on
- Calm, adaptable, and structured in uncertain environments
- Skilled in balancing people-first approaches with business outcomes

Nice to Have (But Not Essential)

- Background in insurance, financial services, or professional services
- Experience with HRIS platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or ELMO
- Familiarity with TUPE/industrial relations, workforce planning, or employee engagement strategy
- Exposure to post-merger integration or organisational design

Why This Role?

This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the future workforce of a growing, people-centric organisation. You'll work closely with senior leadership, impact employees across both businesses, and leave a legacy of cohesion, clarity, and culture.
