Join Miwatj Health and make a difference We’re looking for a dedicated Cancer Program Lead to help deliver culturally safe cancer support and screening services across East Arnhem Land. In this role, you’ll coordinate care for Yolŋu clients, strengthen partnerships with hospitals and treatment centres, and lead a small team to improve access to cancer care and screening. You’ll also help develop culturally appropriate education and resources that support Yolŋu families throughout their cancer journey. This role offers the opportunity to travel to remote communities by light aircraft and be part of a team creating real change for our people.

What’s in it for you?

- RN5 $141,119 to $147,041 per annum + 12% superannuation
- AHP5 $111,555 to $121,351 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Ability to Salary Package up to $15,900 + additional $2,650 on Meals and Entertainment
- 5 Weeks annual leave + 1 week additional leave + 17.5% Leave Loading
- 12 Days Personal and 5 Days Compassionate Leave

About Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to providing quality services across East Arnhem Land and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary and public health for over 6,000 residents of this remote landscape. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, and a Corporate Office in Darwin, our delivery is focused on 7 health centres across East Arnhem Land and dedicated outreach teams who travel to additional locations.

What we’re looking for in you

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate health professional, ideally a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner who is passionate about improving the cancer journey for Yolŋu people and their families. You will bring strong clinical experience in remote Aboriginal health, cultural competence, and the ability to co-design and deliver innovative, community-led programs that strengthen cancer screening and early detection. Your excellent communication, advocacy, and report-writing skills will support collaboration across primary and tertiary health services, while your understanding of Aboriginal Community Control, social determinants of health, and quality improvement processes will ensure culturally safe and effective care. Experience in cancer care and use of patient information systems will be highly regarded.
