About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Principal Consultant L&D to design and deliver high-quality training and development solutions across the Public Transport Authority (PTA). In this key role, you will work closely with stakeholders to provide expert advice and implement training strategies and programs that meet their needs. Your responsibilities will include managing training projects, evaluating their effectiveness, and identifying areas for continuous improvement. You will also coordinate the design of curriculum, course materials, policies, and guidelines to ensure sustainable and impactful learning outcomes.

As an experienced trainer, you will contribute to the delivery of training within your area of expertise while fostering a positive work environment. Working closely with the Training Delivery Leads you will mentor colleagues, promote continuous improvement, and support the Vocational Training Manager in driving organisational learning and development initiatives. In partnership with internal clients, you will provide specialist advice on learning solutions and offer professional consultancy services related to operational training needs.

In this role, you will also manage external training providers and specialist consultants, overseeing contract negotiations and ensuring compliance with PTA standards. You will build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders through effective consultation and influence, ensuring their active involvement in training and development initiatives. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to improve training efficiency and sustainability, incorporating innovative approaches such as e-learning. Your stakeholder engagement and project management skills will be key in implementing learning strategies and ensuring change management processes are effectively applied.

If you have a passion for driving learning excellence and possess the necessary expertise, we encourage you to apply.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

- Certificate IV in Training and Workplace Assessment (TAE 40122) or an equivalent current qualification, along with relevant knowledge, competencies, and qualifications in the field.
- Extensive experience in learning and development within complex, operational, and safety-critical environments, ideally within the rail industry.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to foster a high-performance team culture, mentor and develop others, lead change initiatives, and effectively manage resources and contractors.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in building productive stakeholder relationships and collaborating in teams.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

This is a fixed term appointment for one (1) year with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency available for immediate start. Initially this selection process will be used to fill the above vacancy; however it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that arise within the next 12 months.

To be eligible to work at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa with at least one year validity and full working rights at the time of application.
