Administrative Officer to the Director of Physician Education

The Role

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. The prime objective of this position is the provision of administrative support to the Prince of Wales Hospital Basic Physician Training and Education Program. The Administration Officer will work closely with a team of people involved in medical officer (physician) training including the Director of Physician Education (POWH), the East Coast Medical Network (ECMN) Medical Education Support Officer, the ECMN Network Director of Physician Training and the Manager, Medical Education Unit. The position will also work closely with the Clinical Superintendent in Medicine with regards to medical registrar rostering. The position requires a friendly and flexible approach in developing and maintaining effective strong working relationships with Trainees, Junior Doctors and Senior Consultants.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

- Effective time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise, undertake a diverse range of tasks and meet deadlines and requirements of the role.

- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving and organisational skills

- Proficient level of computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, Access, Sharepoint, internet, email, MS Teams and online platforms.

- High level of attention to detail and well developed analytical skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cohesively within and across teams to build strong relationships with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.

- Demonstrated relevant and recent experience and competence in a service orientated educational and/or administrative officer role with the ability to deal confidently and courteously to provide effective customer support to clients at all levels.

- Must be proficient in or have the ability to learn the use of online learning environments and platforms.

- Has knowledge of or interest in expanding their experience of clinical training in NSW.
