Department: Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) – Office of the Gaming and Wagering Commission

The role

As the Board Support Officer, you will be a key member of a dynamic team supporting the Office of the Commission. You will provide high‑level executive, secretarial, and administrative support including preparing and collating high level correspondence, such as agendas and meeting minutes. You will draw on your experience in administrative coordination and stakeholder engagement to ensure the smooth operation of the Commission’s activities and communications. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience in executive support within a government or corporate environment will be key to success. You will bring expertise in managing correspondence, preparing high‑level documentation, and coordinating meetings and events, and you will build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior officials and industry representatives.

Eligibility and requirements

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. For fixed term employment, similar eligibility applies for the duration of the term. If a qualification is required, provide certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance; qualifications obtained outside Australia must be assessed by the Overseas Qualifications Unit (free service).

To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) and obtain a clearance before you start; LGIRS will coordinate and pay for the NCCHC if deemed suitable.

- Considerable experience providing executive and secretarial support at a senior level within a large organisation, with attention to detail.
- Sound organisational and prioritising skills with the ability to meet performance expectations in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
