Future Living

Non-Executive Board Member

Appointment commencing October 2025

The Opportunity

Future Living is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Board Member at our Annual General Meeting in October. As we seek to expand our marketing and fundraising capabilities, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a future-focused disability organisation that makes a lasting impact on individuals with disability and their families. Whether you're an experienced Board professional or looking to build your governance credentials, this role offers meaningful engagement, valuable connections, and rewarding challenges.

About Future Living

Established in 1989, Future Living is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation offering services that are unique within the disability sector. While many providers focus on immediate needs, we support families planning for the long-term wellbeing of their loved ones with disability — particularly when parents are no longer able to provide support.

Our services include:

●      Education, advice, and support for estate planning and Special Disability Trusts.

●      Assistance in developing long-term plans for financial security, accommodation, and personal wellbeing.

●      Ongoing support through managed trust funds, residential property oversight, and regular independent visits.

These services operate outside the NDIS framework and are delivered under our core pillars: Plan and Protect.

The role

Our Board is passionate, professional and collaborative. We are seeking to appoint one Board Member.

Preferred skills and experience include:

●      Experience in fundraising and philanthropy.

●      A commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disability.

●      Networks within the business community or not-for-profit sector.

Additional desirable capabilities:

●      Background in legal or financial services, compliance, communications, or philanthropy.

●      AICD or other governance qualification.

The commitment

Our Board comprises nine members, who each commit to attending board and sub-committee meetings. While our Board Members contribute to the organisation's strategic direction and governance, they also participate in fundraising and special events. A suggested minimum time commitment is about 40 hours a year. Board membership is voluntary, with a renewable three-year term and no maximum number of terms.

How to apply

Please submit a brief expression of interest to by 29 September that outlines your motivation and alignment with the preferred criteria.
