Overview

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer - IP Core

Location: Macquarie Park (3 days onsite per week, hybrid)

Contract: 9 months (with potential extension)

Start: Immediate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with strong expertise in IP Core Networks to join a growing team. You'll be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of core network solutions, working alongside a small team of engineers and a manager. Due to project requirements and service-level agreements, some after-hours work will be required.

This role will focus on augmenting the existing team to help manage a heavy backlog of work and ensure smooth delivery of business-as-usual (BAU) network changes and design activities.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement IP-based network solutions.

- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and data center fabrics.

- Lead and support firewall and private cloud network design.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex core network issues.

- Maintain templates, documentation, and standard operating procedures.

- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize systems.

- Conduct upgrades, patching, and regular maintenance.

- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to meet operational requirements.

Your Profile

- 10+ years' experience as a Network Engineer at a senior level.

- Strong expertise in Cisco and Ericsson technologies (Nokia knowledge beneficial).

- In-depth understanding of IP protocols, network architecture, and network security.

- Hands-on experience with data center fabrics, including ACI and EVPN-VXLAN.

- Solid troubleshooting and implementation skills.

- Relevant industry certifications (CCNP/CCIE highly regarded).

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
