Position Information
Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus is a 7-10 co-educational school based in Rozelle. It is part of Sydney Secondary College with a current enrolment of approximately 800 students. The school is a culturally diverse middle school with selective and comprehensive streams, along with support classes in autism. Our school also delivers enrichment programs for students with high potential or giftedness in academic, creative and sporting fields, with entry into these programs via a competitiveness process in year 6. Balmain prides itself on an inclusive learning environment with strong partnerships with parent groups, Aboriginal Education organisations, partner primary schools, universities, TAFE, local businesses and community welfare groups.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Music Years 7–12.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience to plan, develop, program, and implement Music curriculum across Years 7–10.
- Demonstrated experience and/or capacity to effectively engage with middle school students, including the implementation of positive behaviour management strategies.
- Willingness and capacity to actively contribute to large Creative and Performing Arts extra-curricular initiatives, such as school musicals, ensembles, and showcase events
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, students, and the wider school community to create a supportive and inclusive school culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
