About the department

CITS is a diverse agency that supports all Western Australians by giving them opportunities to reach their potential and live their very best lives. Staff work across the portfolios of creative industries; sport and recreation; tourism and multicultural interests, and major events and infrastructure projects throughout WA. Activities include funding and grants, infrastructure development, research, policy, information and support to:

- Support a sustainable arts and cultural sector that facilitates social and economic wellbeing.
- Maintain a strong and diverse sport and recreation sector by removing barriers to participation and providing funding and support.
- Promote multiculturalism through the Office of Multicultural Interests to strengthen communities.
- Champion WA’s tourism industry and promote Western Australia as a destination.
- Support First Nations peoples to connect to culture and history through Aboriginal History Western Australia and the State Records Office.

About the Office of Multicultural Interests

The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) works to achieve the full potential of multiculturalism in Western Australia, coordinating strategies that encompass the whole community and promote equity and accessibility.

About the role

The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) is seeking a Community Relations Officer to join their team. In this role, you will coordinate and facilitate a range of administrative and resource management support, undertake research and project-related activities to support OMI’s work with culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities, and support the development and implementation of promotional activities across a range of communication platforms. You will also support the coordination of regular events facilitated by the division for CaLD communities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver communications for CaLD communities across social media, EDMs, websites, and publications.
- Support and coordinate events hosted by OMI, engaging CaLD communities across WA.
- Respond to general enquiries related to multiculturalism and provide administrative support to the broader team.
- Work collaboratively in a creative and fast-paced environment, championing the needs of WA’s diverse communities and contributing to departmental projects and priorities as required.

We have one permanent, full-time (75hrs p/f) position available. Location: 140 William Street, Perth.
