We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator – Elder Abuse to join our Aged and Community Services in our Glenorchy office.
About Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas)
The Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) provides access to valued services and promotes the needs of multicultural communities. The Aged and Community Services program area provides a range of aged care services including home care support, social support, allied health – Social Work, and aged care sector development and training.
About the role
The Project Coordinator – Elder Abuse is responsible for providing increased awareness with CALD communities about Elder Abuse and what constitutes in elder abuse in the Australian context. The position is also responsible for increasing awareness with services about the challenges and successes in identifying and responding to elder abuse within CALD communities in Tasmania.
The successful candidate will have
- Relevant qualifications (for example Social Work, Education and Nursing) or other qualifications and experience deemed equivalent to deliver the project.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of elder abuse for people from a CALD background.
- Ability to develop and facilitate training and support to Bicultural workers to strengthen their understanding of elder abuse and ability to present information sessions with CALD communities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective networks with other service providers and provide training, information and support regarding elder abuse to services.
- Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills; including demonstrated ability to keep thorough records and report as appropriate.
