Position Information
Gledswood Hills HighSchoolis the new highschoolsupporting the communities of Gregory Hills and Gledswood Hills. This South Western Sydney growth corridor has seen exponential growth of residential housing over the past ten years.
The school opened on a pop up site at the commencement of Term 1, 2025 for Year 7 students only. This pop up site is located on the grounds of Gregory Hills PublicSchool. In 2026, the school will cater for Year 7 and 8 students on the pop up site. The new school build is expected to be open in Term 1, 2027 with year 7, 8 and 9 students, and an additional year group will be added annually. The first HSC cohort will be 2030, and it is anticipated that a supported learning unit will be at the school when the school moves to the permanent site.
This teacher position will be the inaugural Languages teacher appointed to the school. The teacher will be responsible for developing curriculum design for the mandatory 100-hour course and contributing to a 4 hour per week integrated curriculum model. As the school expands, the Language teacher will be responsible for stage 5 and 6 Japanese curriculum if this is a curriculum option selected by students.
The permanent site is designed to serve the dramatically growing number of local families in the area and will cater for 1000 students in stage one with an average year group of 165 students. The school will be built with 48 general learning spaces using the modern method of construction processes.
The school will have close links with Gregory Hills Public School and Gledswood Hills Public School, as partner schools.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Japanese
- Capacity to meet the differentiated learning needs of a diverse range of students in a new and developing comprehensive school
- Capacity to work with teachers across KLAs on innovative learning and assessment
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
