About the Role

Ruah is proud to be developing the Karlup Service, a holistic, wraparound recovery-based model aimed at supporting women and children to heal from family and domestic violence. The Karlup Service will provide a range of offerings from the Ruah Centre for Women and Children (RCWC), a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility in Perth's CBD.

Access to trauma and culturally informed financial counselling can be key to a woman's journey of recovery and healing. The Karlup Service recognises the type of economic safety support women may need during their recovery journey from family and domestic violence and aims to provide this support to ensure women regain financial independence as a critical step in rebuilding their lives.

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Financial Counsellor will provide individual counselling to women who have experienced issues of family and domestic violence to empower them to gain financial independence and effectively manage their finances.

This is a full-time permanent position working 38 hours per week between Monday to Friday.

What we're looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

- Minimum qualification of Diploma of Financial Counsellingor1-3 years' experience in financial counselling and a sound knowledge of financial counselling practices.
- Current registration with the Financial Counselling Association of WA (FCAWA)
- Previous experience providing counselling services to women who have experienced family and domestic violence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of FDV and the social and cultural context in which it occurs.
- Sound understanding of community resources and ability to navigate external agency requirements to support clients.
- Capability to work within a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diversity and social-inclusion including gender, sexuality, disability, cultural, age and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.
