ATSICHS Brisbane is a member of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH).
The ATSICHS Youth Service (AYS) team provides tailored case management support for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 12 to 21. The role supports young people who are at risk of family & community disconnection, education & employment disengagement, cultural disconnection, and health and safety needs. ATSICHS Youth Services focuses on assertive outreach in community and holistic support to address these challenges. The model incorporates a family connection approach for delivering targeted supports and interventions, working also with immediate /extended family to support the young person.
Duties
- Effectively engage clients through cold-call home-based visits. Turn initial 'service offerings' home visits into consent by delivering motivational interviewing and positive reinforcement practice interventions.
- Build strong relationships with clients through effective micro-counselling techniques (body language, voice tone, active listening) and delivering unconditional positive regard in removing shame or blame perceptions of clients beliefs.
- Deliver immediate safety assessment and safety responses, documented and approved by line-Manager, in instances of domestic and family violence, self-harm/mental health, and child abuse.
- Lead tough conversations with clients, outlining non-negotiables of statutory bodies (Child Safety, Police, Courts, Youth Justice etc.). Build change readiness of clients through motivational interviewing strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Build client agency, self-efficacy and facilitate change through client empowerment, while actively discouraging client dependence on supports.
- Deliver case managed services according to the program model of care, ensuring minimum case load requirements are maintained to ensure equitable access to services for community.
- Organise diary and client visits, ensuring regular face-to-face contact to achieve client impact.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes of all clients' interactions, ensuring case notes are written from the perspective of clients in their voices.
- Complete SRS (client-led brief session rating survey) upon each occasion of direct face-to-face support provided to client.

- Annual salary of $93,613 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience).
- 12% Super + Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging (Increases your take home pay).

Desired Skills and Experience
COVID-19 Requirement
- Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid 19 vaccine is encouraged.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant social services field with a practicum/work history in family support, child protection, youth support, or housing roles.
OR
- Certificate IV in a relevant community services field with at least 3 years of case management experience within family support, child protection, youth support, housing or a related field and a commitment to complete a Diploma (funded by ATSICHS) while working.
AND
- Strong case management skills, including grammatical writing ability, personal organisation and time management and execution of services according to the model of case phases of work.
- Demonstrated ability to critique social work theoretical frameworks of practice, aligned with ATSICHS values. Ability to real-time adaption of client interventions that build client motivation, insight and acceptance, self-awareness, decision making (agency), and sustainable behaviourchange.
- Ability to critique legislative grey zones, while managing organisational and child/client harm risks.
- Ability to refer numerous internal ATSICHS programs and services to activate wrap-around care for clients, trading-off and negotiating resources across the organisation and between other teams achieve client impact.

- Current Working with Children Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply.

- Evidence of Work Rights.
- Travel to work in the community on a regular basis.
