National Parks and in the South West Region include Yalgorup, Wellington, Greater Preston, Wiltshire-Butler, Dalgarup, Forest Grove, Blackwood River, Wooditjup, Yelverton, Whicher, Leeuwin-Naturaliste, Scott River, Hilliger and Tuart Forest. The Ngari Capes Marine Park stretches along the west coast from Geographe Bay in the north to Flinders Bay near Augusta in the south.

The South West Region’s key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, fire management, and land-use planning. The region’s headquarters is based in Bunbury. Services are also delivered via the Blackwood District, located at Busselton with work centres at Margaret River, Nannup and Kirup, and the Wellington District, located at Collie with a smaller work centre at Harvey.

We currently have an opportunity for a Conservation Employee - Storeperson to join our team in the Wellington District.

Under the immediate direction of the Work Centre Coordinator, this position:

- Is responsible for the purchase and distribution of stores, equipment and services at Collie district office and liaises with Harvey work centre to ensure efficient stores supply and use, and high levels of stores organisation.
- Provides a store service from the Collie work centre as one of the repositories and deployment points for state facilities equipment during large bushfires and as a central repository for some Fire Management Services Branch equipment and supplies for South West Fire Units during the fire season.
- Ensures that the prescribed procedures for the management and control of stores and equipment are implemented and observed.
- Assists with the coordination of delivery, servicing and repair of the district light fleet.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should submit a cover letter using the following criteria as a guide to express their interest in being considered for selection for interview.

- Demonstrated ability to manage consumable stock in a multi work centre environment.
- Ability to liaise with and negotiate with suppliers and contractors for the provision of goods and services.
- Ability to plan and implement work in an efficient manner, organise resources, determine day to day priorities and ensure best practice quality control measures are achieved.
- Good oral communications and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work with employees and contractors with limited supervision and work effectively in a team.
- Good writing skills including the ability to produce reports and programs and use of computer skills (including MS word and Excel) for the requirements of the job.
- Proven ability to undertake roles in prescribed burning, and incident and fire management activities. Ongoing willingness and ability to participate in fire management activities that contribute to bushfire suppression and prescribed burning operations commensurate with capability, capacity, training and level of experience.
- Willingness and ability to participate in development programs to acquire Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
- Understanding of work, health and safety, and equity and diversity principles and practices.
- Western Australian ‘MR’ and ‘C’ Class Driver’s licences.
- Knowledge of a light fleet management system.
