The Species and Communities Program coordinates the listing, management and recovery of threatened species, ecological communities and wetlands. The program provides policy, strategic and technical advice on fauna, flora, ecological community and wetland conservation, and manages projects for the promotion of conservation on land not managed by the department.
We are currently seeking to establish a pool of suitable candidates for the position of Senior Technical Officer.
This position contributes to the ongoing conservation and management of Western Australian biodiversity with emphasis on threatened species and ecological communities and administration of the Biodiversity Conservation Act In addition, this position prepares authorisations for the taking of threatened species and ecological communities, and contributes to other processes as they arise. The position also liaises with Government agencies, local government, consultants, industry and the public in relation to threatened species and ecological communities.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than two (2) pages in total.
- Experience in biodiversity conservation and land management, including knowledge of the application of legislation and policy.
- Knowledge of Western Australian threatened species, environmental impact assessment principles and on-ground management practices for biodiversity outcomes.
- Experience in collating and presenting technical information relevant to biodiversity conservation and land management.
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
