OverviewThe Plant Diseases Program within the Ecosystem Health Branch coordinates management of invasive species, including plant diseases, weeds and pest animals, to conserve natural values on lands managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA). This position contributes to the development and delivery of projects, policy, guidelines and procedures to support biodiversity conservation outcomes.
Job type and location: 12 months fixed-term, full-time. Based in Kensington, WA. Applications close at midday on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
Base pay range$95,782.00/yr - $114,938.00/yr. PSCA, Level 4 or 5, $95,782 - $100,526 or $105,167 - $114,938 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation.
Responsibilities- Development and implementation of a strategic approach to management of environmental plant pests and diseases.
- Preparation and delivery of correspondence, reports, briefings, training, management and communications plans for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analysis and interpretation of data to inform advice, support and recommendations.
- Development of projects, policy, guidelines and procedures.
- Increase understanding of plant pest and disease threats and their management.
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
- Knowledge and experience (Level 4) or sound knowledge and considerable experience (Level 5) in the management of plant pests and diseases for biodiversity conservation outcomes, or equivalent experience in an allied field.
- Evidence of well developed (Level 4) or sound (Level 5) interpersonal and oral communication skills and experience in effectively liaising and negotiating with senior internal and external stakeholders, preferably across a government agency.
- Well-developed (Level 4) or sound (Level 5) oral and written communications skills, including demonstrated experience in report writing using word processing, spreadsheet and/or database and presenting results to others using PowerPoint software.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake project work with limited direction and strong project management skills.
