Position Information

Merrylands High School is a comprehensive co‑educational secondary school (enrolment 850 students, including 82% from a non‑English speaking background). The school’s strategic directions are Student Growth and Attainment, Collaborative Practices in Numeracy and Attendance and Connection. There is a strong focus on academic achievement, student engagement, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), innovative technology, meaningful community participation and whole‑school professional learning aligned to the school’s strategic directions.

Remuneration

Remuneration package valued up to $156,253.00. Base salary ranges from $90,177.00 to $137,861.00, plus leave loading and employer’s contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach Technology mandatory (Years 7‑8) and Food Technology.

- Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Hospitality – Food and Beverage, with qualification entry benchmark met.

- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.

- Expertise in teaching learners from a low SES background and with a language background other than English.

- Expertise in designing and delivering creative and engaging lessons in Technology.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
