Project Officer, Tourism
- Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus superannuation)
- Fixed term role to 30 June 2026
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)

The Role
As a Project Officer, Tourism, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a range of initiatives to strengthen the tourism industry and to support high quality visitor experiences across Victoria.
This role is a critical support role working across the Tourism Policy and Programs unit to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, to time and delivering effective outputs. It will support the implementation of the 10-year strategy, Experience Victoria 2033 and the strategic priorities of Yuma Yirramboi. The Project Officer will work flexibly to support priorities and delivery of programs, within Tourism Policy and Programs. Program streams include First Peoples tourism, destination planning, visitor economy partnerships, workforce and industry development.
Key accountabilities include:
- Participate in project teams for discrete pieces of work within the unit to meet key government priorities.
- Coordinate reporting and evaluation across the team including on projects, programs, industry engagement activities and ad hoc requests.
- Daily administrative support across the team including drafting advice, briefings, correspondence, project documentation and managing budgets.
- Support the delivery of grant programs and grant agreements including milestone processing, reporting, resolution of issues, systems management and drafting documentation.
- Establish and manage stakeholder relationships to ensure the effective delivery of projects.
- Implement best practice project management techniques to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the agreed scope and objectives.
The Team
The position of Project Officer, Tourism will work across Tourism, Events and Entities branch, which sits within Sport and Experience Economy group.
Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV), Tourism and Events (T&E) and Outdoor Recreation and Combat Sports (ORCS).
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of Government Processes: Governance standards, policies and programs including knowledge of the key issues confronting the tourism sector and/or First Peoples businesses in Victoria, and public sector governance and change management.
- Project Administration: Produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; Monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; Ensures project objectives are met.
- Clear Communication: This requires excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills including the development of reports, PowerPoint presentations and diagrams, submissions and briefings that are concise and engaging.
- Stakeholder Management and Engagement: Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; effectively manages correspondence, reporting and meetings with stakeholders, builds relationships and behind-the-scenes support for ideas to ensure buy-in and ownership.
- Teamwork: Cooperates and works well with others in the pursuit of team goals; Collaborates and shares information; Shows consideration, concern and respect for others/' feelings and ideas.
