The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join the team at our dedicated ophthalmology‑only practice building in East Malvern, in the leafy suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.
This is a full‑time position as a staff Ophthalmologist who is willing to work in a collaborative environment and assist in the training of our residents, and final year Veterinary Students. Interest in a long‑term association with Animal Eye Care is desirable but we would also be open to long‑term locum stints.
Eligibility for Veterinary registration in Victoria, Australia is essential. Please contact the clinic for more information on registration requirements.
The Hospital:
Animal Eye Care runs a busy referral‑based ophthalmology practice, with a high medical and surgical case load. Patients include companion animals, exotics, and equine cases.
- Strong focus on continued education: We have weekly rounds/journal club, monthly ocular histopathology for residents, and our practice always strives to have the best and most up to date care for our patients.
- Strong and efficient communication between our clients and our referring vets, including the use of Galaxy - Animal Intelligence Software
- Experienced support team: We have dedicated, specialised‑trained and motivated nursing team that provide an integral contribution to the practice.
- The latest technology and specialised equipment: state of the art and up to date equipment and techniques are used to provide the very best services to our clients and their animals. Including but not limited to the latest:
- Abbott- AMO WhiteStar Phaco machine with Fusion Fluidics
- Leica ophthalmic operating microscope
- Dedicated Ultrasound machine
- Supportive team environment focused on true work‑life balance:
- Flexibility in roster, including a 4‑day work week.
- Limited afterhours roster (no calls after 10pm weeknights and 6pm weekends)
