About the Role
At Swinburne, our Finance Business Partners play a critical role in shaping the future of the University. This is not just about numbers, it’s about influence, strategy, and impact.
As a trusted advisor to senior leaders and Executive Group Members, you’ll provide evidence-based insights that directly inform key decisions. You’ll translate financial performance into forward-looking advice, helping to optimise resources, unlock opportunities, and deliver long-term value.
From guiding portfolios on budgets, forecasts, and multi-year planning to evaluating new initiatives, partnerships, and capital investments, you’ll be at the centre of the University’s strategic agenda.
You’ll also champion Finance transformation, digital innovation, and continuous improvement - ensuring that our financial insights not only keep pace with change but drive it. This is an opportunity to use your commercial acumen, technical expertise, and influencing skills to make a tangible difference in Swinburne’s journey toward the 2026 Strategy.
About You
You’re more than a finance professional - you’re a strategic partner who thrives on collaboration, influence, and impact. You know how to connect financials to strategy, and you’re comfortable advising executives on both risks and opportunities.
You bring significant experience in financial management within a large, complex organisation. With a CA/CPA qualification, you combine strong technical skills in budgeting, forecasting, and analysis with the ability to simplify complexity and communicate with impact.
Digitally savvy and commercially minded, you’re confident using ERP systems, reporting tools, and analytics platforms to unlock insights. You’re resilient and adaptable, with a proven ability to deliver results under pressure while building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
Most importantly, you’re motivated by the opportunity to shape decisions, influence outcomes, and play a key role in delivering sustainable growth and innovation at Swinburne.

- Contribute to rolling forecasts and multi-year financial planning models aligned with strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across academic and professional portfolios.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (AASB), government requirements, and University policies.
