Our client, in the public sector, is seeking a Health and Safety Officer for a 4-month contract.

You’ll play an important role in maintaining and improving the organisation’s safety management systems. You’ll provide hands‑on support with day‑to‑day safety administration, assist in developing and implementing health, safety, and wellbeing programs, and help ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.

What You’ll Be Doing:

- Administer and maintain the organisation’s online safety management systems.

- Support the planning, development, and delivery of health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, including training programs.

- Respond to and triage health and safety queries across various divisions.

- Assist with workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident management.

- Contribute to the development and review of safety policies, procedures, and governance documentation.

- Participate in projects and initiatives that enhance organisational safety culture and performance.

- Take part in fire management activities, including bushfire suppression and prescribed burns, depending on skills and experience.

What You’ll Bring:

- A basic understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.

- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and online management tools.

Desirable:

- Experience or knowledge of workplace health and safety principles.

- A current driver’s licence.

- Willingness to participate in fire management and prescribed burning activities, where required.
