About the role:
This adult clinical role will allow you to work across a variety of clinical areas, gaining valuable assessment and intervention skills. You will be supported by a dynamic and friendly team to provide evidence-based and patient-centred Speech pathology services.
On a daily basis, you will be completing assessments of communication and swallowing disorders with an adult population, putting into place management plans in collaboration with the wider team. This caseload is unique and diverse, working across the ED, ICU, Medical, Surgical, Rehabilitation, and Palliative care wards, and broad spectrum of outpatient clinics including Oncology, Neurological, ENT, and Rehabilitation.
The team provide high-quality care and assessments, with opportunity for junior staff to learn from senior staff. Clinical caseloads within the team include therapeutic and preventative speech pathology services, within scope and according to relevant models of care and priorities. This includes instrumental swallowing assessments, videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS) and the developing use of fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).

The Tamworth Hospital speech pathology team is highly skilled, with a focus on patient-centred care. Being the second largest hospital in Hunter New England Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital (TRRH) is a key referral hospital, meaning that the client presentations are varied and complex. The speech pathology team covers a variety of adult clinical areas including intensive care, medical, surgical, oncology, and rehabilitation. Tamworth has sophisticated diagnostic services, along with comprehensive community and outpatient services.

Requirements:
- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer
- Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances
