Health Information Administrative Support (HIAS) Officer – Emergency Department (After Hours)

This is a RecruitmentPool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Fulltime, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31May 2026.
About the Role
Position Profile and Role
We are seeking Health Information Administrative Services Officers for our Emergency Department (After Hours shifts) to join our team at the Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and ensure accurate and efficient provision of records as a critical part of our effort to ensure effective patient care.
In this role, you will provide clerical support to the PCH Emergency Department.
As each patient visits the department, you will
- register and track patients, ensuring all patient information is correctly recorded in the hospital’s patient administration system and the Emergency Department Information System (EDIS).
- liaise with medical, nursing and other clerical staff regarding registration, admission, transfer and discharge of patients to and from the Emergency Department.
- ensure accuracy in each task to ensure patient records are available to the next nurse or clinician.
You will also support clinics by:
- receiving new referrals and creating outpatient appointments.
- prepare patient documentation for on-forwarding to the Medical Records department.

Fixed term(temporary) full-time, part-time and casual positions are available with shift times below. You will be asked to confirm your availability for shift work as part of your application.
- Monday to Sunday 3pm to 11.06pm
- Monday to Sunday 11pm to 7.06am
- Saturday and Sunday 7am to 3.06pm
- Casual shifts
Flexibility to cover shifts at other times will be highly regarded in order to support team members.
*Please note on commencement in the role you will be asked to complete training to learn tasks. Training will be offered in a block, which might be different to the shift you have selected.
