Overview
About SmartUi
At SmartUi, we believe technology should make life easier, not more complicated. We specialise in Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), helping businesses in the construction industry eliminate manual document handling, streamline processes, and build high-performing finance teams.
Our solutions are built on the world-class platform ABBYY FlexiCapture, and we’ve successfully implemented automation for hundreds of users across Australia, New Zealand, USA, and Canada.
In 2025, SmartUi was proud to be named Australia’s Best IT Business at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards; a great milestone that recognises the impact we’re making as a trusted partner in business transformation.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Project Manager based in Australia (preferably Sydney) to lead customer implementations and support clients post go-live. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an award-winning, values-driven team that’s reshaping how construction finance teams work.
The role
As Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end delivery of customised IDP solutions built on our cloud based ABBYY FlexiCapture platform, as well as providing ongoing customer support and relationship management once clients have gone live.
As a prerequisite of the role, you will need to have experience working with either ABBYY Flexicapture, or similar platforms like Kofax or Esker. Please do not apply if you don/'t have this experience.
You’ll manage multiple projects at once - each with clear scope, tight timelines (3–6 weeks), and a highly collaborative delivery team. Working closely with solution/product development and customer success, you’ll ensure a smooth customer experience from onboarding through to support.
This is not a technical role, but you’ll need to understand the key components of intelligent document automation, confidently manage projects, and maintain strong client relationships.
You’ll be joining a remote-first, globally distributed team with a strong culture of support, transparency, and accountability.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full project lifecycle across multiple IDP implementations
- Work with internal teams to scope, plan, and prioritise delivery work
- Build and manage timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resourcing
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients - ensuring a smooth experience from onboarding through to delivery
- Provide training and post go-live support, assisting customers to adopt best practices and resolve operational queries
- Create and maintain clear documentation including SOWs, project plans, updates, and closure reports
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between SmartUi teams in Australia, North America, and Eastern Europe
- Ensure each project is delivered on time, within scope, and transitioned effectively to customer success
Requirements
Key attributes – what we’re looking for
1. Strong project delivery discipline
- Proven experience delivering B2B software implementation projects
- Exposure to Intelligent Document Processing platforms; such as ABBYY FlexiCapture (preferred), Kofax, Esker, or Rossum.
- Able to manage multiple concurrent projects with short cycles (3–6 weeks)
- Familiar with Agile/hybrid delivery methods and results-focused execution
- Experience with workflow automation tools will be a plus
2. Process-oriented with attention to detail
- Skilled in planning, scheduling, scope management, and change control
- Confident creating and managing SOWs, timelines, and client-facing updates
- Comfortable following structured delivery processes and suggesting improvements
3. Excellent communicator & client manager
- Builds trusted relationships and provides a great experience for clients
- Manages expectations with professionalism and clarity
- Leads structured project meetings and handles risks with calm and confidence
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer conversations post go-live
4. Based in Australia & team collaboration
- Based in Australia (Sydney preferred) to support our local client base
- Experienced working remotely with globally distributed teams
- Highly self-managed, organised, and collaborative
5. Technically aware & solution-minded
- Has a solid understanding of how software solutions are designed, configured, and delivered - with exposure to ABBYY FlexiCapture or other similar products
- Understands the core components of digital document automation, including data capture, validation, workflows, and system integrations
- Can translate business requirements into clear, actionable inputs for solution engineers
- Able to interpret dependencies, assess technical readiness, and identify delivery risks early
- Confident working closely with technical teams to ensure solutions are implemented effectively and align with client needs
- Comfortable explaining system functionality and logic to end users, supporting adoption and change management post go-live
6. Organised, calm & results-driven
- Calm under pressure, structured in delivery, and committed to timelines
- Proactive, adaptable, and motivated to see every project through to success
- Brings energy and ownership to a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
Benefits
Why join SmartUi?
- Work remotely in a flexible, international team that values autonomy and results
- Lead projects with clear scope, trusted clients, and a highly capable delivery team
- Join a company scaling rapidly in a niche with huge growth potential
- Be part of an award-winning business recognised as Australia’s Best IT Company (2025)
