Overview

Habitat for Humanity Australia (HFHA) is a Tier 3 Community Housing Provider that supports service delivery partners by providing safe and decent housing for those they support.

The Project Officer plays a critical role in delivering safe, secure, and sustainable housing solutions aligned with Habitat for Humanity Australia's mission. This role supports the operationalisation of the ‘Healthy Homes’ program and Habitat Women repairs and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the development and delivery of the Healthy Homes program, including the creation of a home assessment tool and training materials.

- Schedule and conduct property assessments, and coordinate repairs, upgrades and training.

- Plan and deliver Healthy Homes training, assessments, repairs and upgrades, coordinating contractors, timelines, budgets and compliance requirements.

- Monitor program progress and ensure alignment with strategic goals and funding agreements.

- Support Habitat Women repairs and maintenance projects on an as‑needed basis and deliver targeted maintenance and upgrades to improve housing quality and climate resilience.

- Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, service providers and local councils.

- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support tenant well‑being and housing outcomes.

- Ensure all housing operations comply with WHS legislation and organisational policies, conduct regular risk assessments and implement safety protocols, and provide WHS training and guidance to staff, contractors and tenants.

- Maintain accurate records of property and tenancy activities, prepare regular reports on housing performance, occupancy, maintenance and tenant satisfaction, and contribute to program evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience in repairs and maintenance.

- Experience in training and project management/program delivery.

- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and compliance.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.

Other Requirements

- Experience working in the not‑for‑profit sector.

- Clear criminal history and adherence to HFHA’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, including the Child Protection Policy.

- Class C driver’s licence and satisfactory driving history.
