Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Advisor to join a highly respected public sector organisation in the heart of Adelaide CBD. This full-time role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact by ensuring best practice procurement outcomes that directly support front line and corporate operations. Flexible working arrangements allow two days per week from home. You will be part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team dedicated to delivering high-quality ICT change programs and services across South Australia. The position is offered on a temporary contract basis for up to one year, providing an excellent platform to showcase your expertise in government procurement while contributing to the ongoing evolution of technology capability within a large, complex, and community-focused organisation. - Enjoy flexible working arrangements with two days per week from home, promoting work-life balance and wellbeing while based in the vibrant Adelaide CBD. - Play a pivotal role in supporting critical ICT procurement activities that underpin essential public services, making a real difference to communities across South Australia. - Join a supportive and inclusive team environment where your knowledge and experience are valued, with opportunities to collaborate closely with stakeholders at all levels. What you’ll do As a Procurement Advisor within this prominent public sector organisation’s IS&T Service division, you will help shape how technology-related goods and services are sourced to support operational policing needs and broader corporate functions. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve collaborating closely with finance teams and stakeholders across multiple departments to ensure every stage of the procurement process is managed efficiently—from initial planning through to contract finalisation. You will interpret complex policy frameworks, provide clear guidance on compliance matters, develop robust documentation for acquisitions or negotiations, and drive value-for-money outcomes. You will manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, champion ethical practices, and nurture positive relationships across diverse teams. Your contribution will help ensure technology investments deliver maximum benefit for internal users and the wider community. - Provide expert advisory and support services to internal clients regarding procurement procedures, policies, and best practices as outlined by Procurement SA. - Contribute to, review, and advise on the development of key procurement documentation such as acquisition plans, market approaches, evaluation plans, negotiation strategies, and purchase recommendations. - Lead the establishment of low to medium risk government contracts, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and organisational objectives throughout the process. - Undertake end-to-end procurement and contract engagement activities in close consultation with IS&T staff, maintaining strict compliance with commercial, financial, and legal standards. - Manage procurement projects including the development, coordination, and implementation of arrangements under Whole of Government, Whole of Department, and agency-specific contracts. - Identify opportunities for improved outcomes, efficiencies, and value for money in contract establishment processes through proactive analysis and stakeholder engagement. - Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems within IS&T by sharing insights and supporting change initiatives. - Assist in fostering a culture that embraces change management principles and supports innovation within the team environment. - Develop and maintain effective networks with both internal colleagues and external partners to facilitate seamless communication throughout all stages of the procurement lifecycle. - Ensure all activities adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements, conflict of interest declarations, equity principles, diversity standards, WH&S legislation, and risk management guidelines. What you bring To excel as a Procurement Advisor in this setting you will bring proven experience from at least two years in government or public sector procurement roles—ideally with exposure to ICT sourcing projects. Your background should include hands-on involvement in drafting key documentation required for major purchases or tenders along with direct participation on evaluation panels. You will possess an advanced understanding of relevant legislative frameworks governing public sector buying decisions and practical skills in negotiating terms that deliver tangible benefits. Your interpersonal strengths will shine through your ability to build trust-based relationships across multidisciplinary teams while communicating complex requirements clearly. A keen eye for detail, sound judgement, and adaptability are crucial. Above all, you demonstrate unwavering commitment towards ethical conduct, championing inclusivity, safety, and diversity, and proactively sharing your expertise so others can grow alongside you. - A minimum of two years’ recent experience in a similar procurement advisory or sourcing role within either state or federal government environments is essential. - Demonstrated proficiency in developing comprehensive procurement documentation including acquisition plans, market approaches, evaluation criteria documents, negotiation plans, and purchase recommendations. - Thorough understanding of Government procurement principles as well as Procurement SA policies and practices relevant to public sector purchasing activities. - Proven competence serving as an evaluation panel member or chairperson during supplier selection processes, ensuring fairness, transparency, and adherence to guidelines. - Ability to conduct detailed value-for-money assessments and cost/benefit analyses to identify optimal contracting solutions. - Experience building strong operational relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers; adept at tailoring communication styles. - Demonstrated capacity for handling confidential information sensitively within commercial or politically sensitive contexts. - Agility in adapting to changing work environments and meeting challenging deadlines without compromising quality or compliance. - Commitment to providing ethical procurement guidance across teams and promoting integrity within IS&T Service. - Comprehensive knowledge of equity principles, diversity, and commitment to workplace health and safety legislation and risk management.
