The Role
As a member of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) team, you should be a conscientious, flexible, and innovative teacher who is committed to the development of the whole student. You would be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience teaching HASS across both the lower school and senior school contexts, with opportunity to teach in specialised areas in HASS where possible. ESC has a strong focus on embedding literacy skills across all learning areas and we are seeking a dynamic teacher with a creative flare for instructional strategies and a sound knowledge of effective Classroom Management Strategies (CMS). The HASS team are very collaborative and readily share resources and experiences to enrich one another's teaching practice. The successful applicant should have the ability to contribute professionally to a dynamic and evolving HASS Learning Area. Graduate teachers are encouraged to apply as a solid teaching foundation can be further developed through mentoring, professional growth opportunities and with our departmental processes.
Responsibilities
- Teach HASS across lower and senior school contexts with flexibility to specialise in areas where possible.
- Contribute to embedding literacy skills across all learning areas.
- Engage in collaborative planning, resource sharing, and professional development within the HASS team.
- Deliver evidence-based teaching, differentiate instruction, and monitor student progress.
- Contribute to a positive classroom environment and uphold school values as a Positive Behaviour School.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified teacher with registration (as applicable).
- Experience or ability to teach HASS in multiple year levels; willingness to contribute to diverse learning pathways (ATAR, VET, GAT, STEM initiatives).
- Knowledge of effective Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and literacy across learning areas.
- Graduate teachers are welcome; mentoring and professional growth opportunities are available.

- hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
- apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start
