About Justice
When you join the Department of Justice, you become part of a people-focused organisation, working hard to make our community a fairer and safer place to live. We offer many different employment opportunities in locations around Western Australia. You will have a chance to make a real difference to your local communities and to the lives of those you work with.
About the role
This is an exciting and important leadership role that provides the opportunity to impact the health and wellbeing of all adult prisoners within Offender Services, at the Department of Justice. The role will provide strategic leadership and direction to Justice Health and Wellbeing Services (JHWS) in the areas of primary health, mental health, psychological support, and alcohol and other drug services. This role will drive reform to ensure that the health care provided to prisoners is benchmarked against “best in class” and is comparable to that available to all members of the WA community.
Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner Offender Services, the Executive Director JHWS will be an integral member of the Offender Services executive leadership team, and will set the strategic direction for change and drive strategy to pave the way for a contemporary offender health service.
The successful candidate
Offender Services is looking for a dynamic and influential leader who is able to set a compelling vision and mobilize a wide range of key stakeholders, including clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver evidence-based best practice health and wellbeing services. You will have a track record of shaping strategy, improving health service delivery and facilitating cultural change through strong engagement and collaboration. As someone from the health sector, you will be familiar with best-practice principles and standards and will be motivated to establish strong governance frameworks to support high-quality service delivery. You will be a strong leader who builds capability in others, encourages innovation and enjoys challenging the status quo in the best interest of those you serve.
